The Magpul X-22 Backpacker Forend exists to solve a specific problem: when you pair the X-22 Backpacker Stock with a spare or replacement barrel on a Ruger 10/22 Takedown, you need a way to secure that additional barrel assembly during transport. This forend provides that locking interface, keeping everything indexed and contained so the spare barrel travels as a single, organized unit rather than a loose component rattling around a pack.

The design is deliberately minimal. Magpul built it from reinforced polymer to keep weight down without sacrificing the structural integrity needed to hold a barrel assembly in place. The locking mechanism engages the barrel assembly to the stock, which matters most when you are moving through rough terrain and need confidence that your gear stays put. Compatibility extends to factory and aftermarket barrels with an outer diameter up to 0.920 inches, which covers the standard 10/22 Takedown barrel profile and most common replacements.

The Flat Dark Earth finish matches the rest of Magpul’s FDE lineup, so it integrates cleanly if your X-22 Backpacker Stock is already in that color.
