Description

The Magpul X-22 Backpacker stock is built for the hunter or outdoorsman who packs a Ruger 10/22 Takedown into the backcountry and needs the rifle to disappear into a pack when it is not in use. Where the full Hunter X-22 Takedown stock preserves a conventional rifle profile, the Backpacker takes that same platform and reorganizes it around the goal of compact storage: the forend and buttstock sections snap together into a single bundle that takes up minimal space, then separate and reassemble into a ready-to-shoot configuration without tools.

The stock is made from reinforced polymer and includes an ergonomic pistol grip with an integrated storage compartment sized for small tools or accessories. The hinged compartment in the buttstock accepts up to three 10-round rotary magazines, keeping spare ammunition organized and protected within the stock itself rather than loose in a bag. A non-slip rubber butt pad — the same MOE SL-pattern Magpul uses across several of its stock lines — provides purchase against the shoulder without adding bulk. Optional QD sling mount compatibility means you can add a sling without permanent modification, useful when the rifle needs to stay accessible on a trail.

A locking interface secures the barrel assembly to the receiver during transport, keeping the two halves from separating inside a pack. The stock fits all Ruger 10/22 Takedown receivers and is also compatible with the Tactical Solutions SBX barrel for those running a replacement barrel on their platform. The grip angle is set at 60 degrees from the bore axis, a geometry that suits both deliberate aimed fire and the kind of quick shouldering that matters when small game is involved. Finished in black, this is a working stock designed around real field conditions rather than range aesthetics.
