Description
Magtech’s First Defense line is built for shooters who put serious round counts through their rifles without wanting to think twice about ammunition reliability. These 123-grain FMJ loads are straightforward range and training ammunition — the bullet construction keeps costs down while still delivering consistent feeding and extraction across platforms chambered in .300 AAC Blackout.
The full metal jacket design means the projectile will not expand on impact, which matters for training because you get repeatable, predictable behavior at the target rather than terminal performance variability. That consistency lets you build genuine data on your rifle and optic combination. At 123 grains, this load runs supersonic, so it produces the ballistic arc and sound signature appropriate for standard .300 Blackout range work rather than the subsonic behavior you’d get from heavier projectiles.
Magtech loads these on brass cases with a small rifle primer, which means spent brass is worth keeping if you reload. The brass is reloadable and the primer pocket is consistent with standard .300 Blackout reloading data. Ballistic coefficient comes in at 0.33, a reasonable figure for a training FMJ at this weight class. Muzzle velocity out of a 16-inch test barrel is 2,230 fps, producing 1,359 foot-pounds of energy at the muzzle — enough to give you realistic andpoint-of-impact feedback at distance during training sessions.
Packaged 50 rounds to the box, with cases of 1,000 available for high-volume use. Magtech manufactures this ammunition to consistent standards, making it a practical choice for zeroing optics, running drills, or simply putting time behind the trigger.
