Description

MDT built the HNT26 specifically for hunters who want the practical advantages of a chassis system without carrying the weight penalty into the field. Where a typical precision chassis is engineered around a bench or a barricade, the HNT26 starts from the assumption that the rifle has to be packed in and the shot may come at the end of a long day on foot.

The chassis base is machined from AZ61A magnesium alloy, a material choice that keeps structural rigidity intact while cutting mass that aluminum would add. The forend, grip, and buttstock are carbon fiber throughout, and the buttstock is foam-filled — that construction absorbs vibration and deadens the resonant sound that hollow stocks produce, which matters when you are trying to stay quiet in the field. Carbon fiber also conducts far less cold than aluminum or polymer, so the grip and forend remain comfortable to the touch in low temperatures.

Bedding is handled through a v-block system with a free-floating barrel channel that accepts barrels up to 1.25 inches in diameter, giving you room to run a heavier hunting barrel if the caliber demands it. The integral ARCA rail on the carbon fiber forend lets the rifle mount directly to an ARCA-compatible tripod head without an adapter plate — useful when the terrain calls for a stable supported position rather than a bipod. The stock folds, which shortens the overall package for pack carry and reduces the profile inside a rifle case.

Length of pull and comb height are both adjustable, and the chassis accepts AICS-pattern magazines, so you are not locked into a proprietary feeding system. The low-profile magazine latch is integrated into the trigger guard rather than protruding below it, reducing snag points on brush and gear.
