Description
The Magpul Bolt-Action Magazine Well for the Hunter 700L Stock solves a genuine problem for Remington 700 long-action owners: the factory bottom metal locks you into expensive, limited-availability OEM magazines. This drop-in unit replaces it with an AICS-pattern magazine interface, opening up a broad selection of standardized long-action magazines that are far easier to source and stock.
Installation is straightforward — remove the original bottom metal from your Hunter 700L and fit the new unit in its place. No custom inletting or metalwork is needed, though Magpul notes that receiver dimension tolerances can vary enough between individual rifles that some fitting may be required. The trigger guard is also worth considering before you buy: triggers with longer or straight bows may not clear it without modification.
The body is reinforced polymer, which keeps weight to 2.4 oz while resisting corrosion without any additional maintenance. Action screws bear against steel pillars rather than polymer, preserving the bedding interface that accuracy depends on. The magazine release is Melonite-treated steel — the same surface hardening used on many duty firearms — which handles the repetitive wear of field use without galling or corrosion. Its ambidextrous, low-profile shape means it won’t catch on a pack or sling under carry loads.
The oversized trigger guard accommodates gloved hands and fits most factory and aftermarket curved triggers. One Magpul PMAG 5 AC L magazine for the .30-06 family of cartridges is included, so the system is ready to function as soon as installation is complete.
