Description

Mec-Gar has manufactured magazines as original equipment for major firearms producers since 1965, and this 1911 full-size magazine in 10mm is built to that same production standard rather than being a retrofit design. It fits full-size Government and Commander-pattern 1911 pistols chambered in 10mm — a cartridge that generates substantially more pressure than .45 ACP, which places greater demands on the magazine body and spring than most 1911 platforms require.

The tube is formed from heat-treated carbon steel, which allows the walls to handle the lateral pressure the 10mm round exerts during feeding without deforming over time. The spring is wound from high-tensile music wire, a material chosen for its ability to maintain consistent spring weight through a high number of compression cycles — relevant for a cartridge where reliable feeding under recoil is not optional. The follower is heat-treated stamped steel, and the floorplate is welded rather than pinned or clipped, eliminating the most common disassembly failure point under hard use.

The Nickel finish serves a functional purpose beyond appearance: it provides a harder surface than bare steel and resists corrosion better in humid or high-sweat carry conditions, while also reducing the friction coefficient inside the tube to promote smoother round presentation. All Mec-Gar magazines are manufactured in Italy. At eight rounds, this magazine matches the standard single-stack capacity for a full-size 10mm 1911 without adding length below the grip.
