Description
Mec-Gar has supplied OEM magazines to major firearm manufacturers and military contracts since 1965, and this Glock 17 magazine is built to the same standard as that production work. The body is formed from heat-treated carbon steel rather than polymer, which matters for durability under hard use — steel resists denting and deformation in ways that polymer cannot, at the cost of a modest weight increase you will notice only if you are comparing directly. The internal spring is high-tensile music wire, chosen because it maintains consistent tension over a service life of many thousands of cycles without taking a permanent set the way softer wire can. A high-visibility green polymer follower makes it easy to confirm at a glance that the magazine is empty, and it is designed to lock the slide back reliably on the last round.
The tube wears a black anti-friction coating that smooths insertion and removal even under stress or with slightly dirty hands. The floorplate is Flat Dark Earth polymer, which extends the grip surface below the magazine well — useful for those with larger hands or for positive seating during a reload. Because the geometry differs from standard Glock floorplates, OEM Glock replacement baseplates will not interchange with this magazine, and the magazine is not compatible with the Stealth Arms Platypus. The factory Glock magazine catch works without modification. All Mec-Gar magazines are manufactured in Italy.
