Description
Mec-Gar has manufactured magazines for major firearms producers and military contracts since 1965, and this Para Ordnance P14 magazine reflects that background. It fits the Para-Ordnance P14 platform as well as ARMSCOR and Rock Island Armory double-stack .45 ACP pistols, making it a straightforward replacement or spare for owners of those widebody pistols.
The tube is heat-treated carbon steel, which maintains its shape under the sustained compression of a loaded magazine over time. The spring is high-tensile music wire, chosen for its ability to cycle rounds reliably without taking a permanent set. The follower and floorplate are high-impact polymer; the floorplate is dimensioned to sit flush with the pistol grip rather than extending below it, which matters for concealment and for holster fit.
The Anti-Friction coating is the detail that sets this variant apart from the standard blued version. It reduces the drag a cartridge column exerts against the tube walls during feeding, which in a high-capacity double-stack geometry is meaningful — rounds in a double-stack must negotiate a tighter path than in a single-stack, and any coating that smooths that transition reduces the chance of a feed interruption. The same coating also provides corrosion resistance, so the magazine holds up to the oils and moisture it encounters in regular carry or range use.
One compatibility note worth knowing before purchase: this magazine is not designed for the Para Pro Custom P14.45, and it will not work with aftermarket polymer basepads or funneled magazine guides. Within its intended platform, it is a direct fit at factory capacity.
