Description

Mec-Gar has supplied magazines to major firearm manufacturers and militaries as an original equipment manufacturer since 1965, and this Walther PPK/S magazine is built to the same standard as those OEM contracts. The tube and follower are both heat treated — the tube from carbon steel, the follower stamped from steel as well — which keeps the feed geometry consistent under the stress of repeated loading and unloading. The spring is wound from high tensile music wire, a material chosen for its ability to maintain load force across a long service life without taking a permanent set.

The Nickel finish on this version does more than affect appearance. Where a blued finish relies on a controlled oxide layer that can wear through at contact points, nickel plate provides a harder, more corrosion-resistant surface that holds up better in environments where moisture is a concern — holster carry, humid storage, coastal conditions. The polymer finger rest floorplate extends the grip slightly beyond the frame of the PPK/S, giving a shooter with larger hands a more secure purchase without changing the magazine’s footprint enough to affect concealment meaningfully.

At seven rounds of .380 ACP, this is the standard capacity offering for the PPK/S platform. Because Mec-Gar manufactures magazines for Walther directly, dimensional tolerances are engineered to fit the PPK/S specifically rather than adapted from a generalized design. For anyone running a PPK/S as a carry gun or a range piece, a spare magazine from the same manufacturer that supplies the OEM unit is a straightforward choice.
