Description

The Mossberg Patriot in .308 Winchester is a straightforward bolt-action hunting and field rifle aimed at shooters who want a capable, weather-resistant platform without unnecessary complexity. It fits equally well in a deer blind or on an open-country ridge where conditions can turn on you quickly.

The barrel wears a Stainless Cerakote finish rather than a traditional blued or polished stainless surface. That matters in practice because Cerakote bonds to the underlying metal and resists moisture, salt, and abrasion more effectively than bare stainless alone, so the rifle is better suited to extended exposure in wet or coastal environments than its appearance might suggest.

The 1-in-10 inch twist rate is well matched to the .308’s most common hunting and match projectile weights, roughly 150 to 175 grains. Heavier long-range bullets at the upper end of that window will stabilize reliably, while lighter varmint-weight loads in .308 are less common and not what this rifle is optimized for.

The LBA (Lightning Bolt Action) trigger is user-adjustable, which gives shooters the ability to dial in pull weight to suit their preference without a trip to a gunsmith. The spiral-fluted bolt reduces bearing surface and sheds debris more readily than a smooth bolt body, which keeps the action cycling cleanly under field conditions.
