Description
The Patriot LR Tactical is Mossberg’s answer to a specific problem: getting a precision bolt gun into a chassis-style platform without requiring the buyer to source and fit aftermarket components before the rifle is useful. It is built around an MDT chassis stock with an aluminum V-block bedding system, which mechanically constrains the action in a way a standard pillar-bedded polymer stock cannot, reducing the shift in point of impact that can occur as a stock flexes under load or changes in temperature. The forend is M-LOK compatible, so bipod mounts, rail sections, and similar hardware attach directly without adapters.
The barrel is threaded and capped, which means a muzzle device can be installed without any additional machining. An 11-degree match crown is cut at the muzzle, a geometry that ensures propellant gases exit evenly around the bullet and avoids the asymmetric pressure that a rough or square-cut crown can introduce. The 1-in-10 twist rate is a practical middle ground for .308 Winchester: it stabilizes the 168- and 175-grain projectiles most commonly used at distance without overstabilizing lighter loads.
The LBA trigger is user-adjustable for pull weight, which matters on a rifle intended for precision work where a consistent, predictable break is part of the process. The spiral-fluted bolt reduces surface contact during cycling and sheds debris, and the oversized handle gives a more positive grip when running the action from behind a scope. A top-mount Picatinny rail is integral to the receiver, so optic mounting requires no additional base. The rifle ships with one 10-round MDT AICS-pattern magazine, a format compatible with a wide range of aftermarket options.
