Description
This is Mossberg’s factory replacement buttstock for the 500, 835, and 590 series shotguns, as well as the Maverick 88. It is the correct choice when an existing stock is damaged, worn, or when a shooter is returning a pistol-grip-configured gun to a full stock setup.
The stock is built from a black synthetic polymer, which resists moisture, temperature swings, and the incidental abuse that working or field guns accumulate. Wood stocks require periodic finishing and can warp with prolonged exposure to wet conditions; this one does not have those maintenance demands. The comb height follows a field profile rather than a target profile, meaning the comb sits lower. That geometry brings the shooter’s eye down to a flatter sight picture across the rib, which suits fast target acquisition on moving birds or field game better than a raised comb optimized for deliberate, slow-fire target work.
A swivel stud is included, so a sling can be attached without additional hardware. Installation uses the existing bolt from the shotgun — no replacement hardware is required for the attachment itself. The forearm is not part of this package; only the buttstock ships. Fit is direct-mount to the standard Mossberg receiver configuration, and it does not accommodate the Mossberg FLEX mount system. This is a full-size stock with a standard length of pull, not a youth-length option.
