Description

Cotton cleaning patches are a straightforward consumable, but the material and cut both matter more than they might seem. Otis makes these from 100% cotton, which absorbs solvent and fouling more effectively than synthetic blends and releases that material when you pull the patch clear rather than smearing it around the bore wall. The result is a cleaner pass with less streaking — useful whether you are doing a quick field wipe or a thorough post-range scrub.

The square format is designed specifically for use with solid rod cleaning jags, not pull-through systems. If you run Otis pull-through cables or a Ripcord, you want their round patches instead — the square cut is sized and shaped to wrap a jag correctly, and using the wrong patch geometry with either system will give you inconsistent bore contact. For jag-based cleaning, the square format folds predictably and stays in place as it travels down the barrel.

At three inches, these patches are sized for larger bores: .50 caliber, .54, .58, the shotgun gauges from .410 up through 12, and similar large-diameter chambers. Smaller calibers from .17 through 7mm are better served by Otis’s one-inch patches, and the mid-range calibers from 9mm through .458 by their 2.5-inch cut. Running the correctly sized patch matters because an undersized patch loses contact with the bore and an oversized one can drag so hard it shreds before it clears. Each pack contains 100 patches, which is a practical working supply rather than a token handful.
