Description

Bore cleaning is one of those tasks that rewards patience more than effort, and the Otis Foaming Bore Cleaner is built around that principle. Rather than relying on repeated passes with a brush to scrub carbon and fouling free, this cleaner does its work chemically. You spray it into the breech end, the foam expands to fill the bore completely, and then you let it sit. Full contact across the entire bore surface means the cleaner reaches fouling that a patch might skip over, particularly in rifling grooves where residue tends to accumulate.

The expand-and-dwell approach matters most when fouling has had time to harden, or when a rifle has seen heavy volume and copper or carbon has built up in layers. Letting the foam break down on its own allows the chemistry to loosen that material before you make a single pass, which reduces the work your patches and solvent cables have to do and puts less mechanical stress on the bore itself.

Positioning matters during use: setting the firearm with the breech slightly higher than the muzzle gives the foam somewhere to work while reducing the chance that dissolved fouling migrates back into the action as the cleaner breaks down.
