The Otis Small Caliber One-Piece Cleaning Rod is built for shooters who want a dedicated, no-compromise cleaning solution for rimfire rifles, air rifles, and other small-bore firearms in the .17 through .22 caliber range. A one-piece rod eliminates the wobble and potential bore contact that sectional rods can introduce at their joints, which matters when you are working through a tight bore and want the cleaning attachment to track straight without deflecting against the rifling.

The rod itself is coated stainless steel, a pairing chosen for a specific reason: stainless provides the column stiffness needed to push or pull a patch through a 36-inch barrel without excessive flex, while the coating acts as a barrier so the rod surface cannot embed grit and drag it against the bore walls on subsequent passes. The 36-inch length makes this rod practical for full-length rimfire and air rifle barrels where a shorter rod would require repositioning mid-stroke.

The handle is designed with a dual-action ball bearing system that gives it two distinct operating modes. Install the swivel end and the rod rotates freely with the rifling as you push a jag and patch through, which keeps the patch oriented with the twist and distributes cleaning pressure evenly. Swap to the fixed end and the rod locks, which is the preferred setup when cleaning a smooth bore or working the chamber area where free rotation is not useful.
