PELTOR COMTAC VI DEFENDER COYOTE BRN

Description

The 3M Peltor ComTac VI NIB Hearing Defender is built for tactical operators, law enforcement personnel, and military users who need to protect their hearing without losing situational awareness. It is a hearing defender only — there is no downlead and no provision for connecting a two-way radio, which is a deliberate design choice that keeps the platform lighter and simpler for roles where radio integration is handled elsewhere or not needed at all.

The core of the design is Natural Interaction Behavior (NIB), a peer-to-peer wireless communication system operating at 915.5 MHz. It allows up to four team members to speak simultaneously within roughly 30 feet of one another, with an additional 60 users able to listen in. That capability exists entirely between headsets — no radio infrastructure required — which makes it practical for small unit coordination during training or operations where radio traffic needs to stay clear.

Omni-directional external microphones handle ambient listening, feeding processed audio to the ear cups so the wearer can track environmental sounds at safe levels while still being protected from impulse noise like gunfire. Mission Audio Profiles (MAP) let the user select from five preset listening modes tuned to different environmental conditions, rather than relying on a single generic setting. The boom microphone uses a telescope design that can be positioned on either side of the headset without physically relocating it, and the VOX button on the left ear cup provides a straightforward way to switch between voice-activated and push-to-talk transmission. The battery cover is tool-free. This headset ships in Coyote Brown and includes an ARC rail attachment for helmet mounting.
