Because the tips conform to the individual ear rather than relying on a fixed shape, the fit is closer to a custom-molded plug than a standard foam disposable, and that seal holds across hours of continuous use.

Retention is handled by SureFire’s patented EarLock rings, which use seven contact points distributed around the outer ear to anchor the earpiece without applying concentrated pressure at any single spot. That geometry also keeps the profile low enough to wear comfortably under a helmet or alongside supplemental earmuffs when the noise environment demands it. The body is molded from a hypoallergenic medical-grade polymer, so extended contact with the skin of the ear canal doesn’t cause the irritation that cheaper materials sometimes produce.
