Description
The SureFire EP10 Sonic Defenders Ultra Max are full-block earplugs built for situations where maximum noise attenuation is the only priority — sustained rifle fire, heavy industrial environments, or any setting where hearing ambient sound is neither necessary nor desirable. They carry a 30 dB Noise Reduction Rating, the highest in SureFire’s Sonic Defenders lineup, achieved through soft memory-foam Comply Canal Tips that expand to form a seal deep in the ear canal. Because the tips conform to the individual ear rather than relying on a fixed shape, the fit is closer to a custom-molded plug than a standard foam disposable, and that seal holds across hours of continuous use.
Retention is handled by SureFire’s patented EarLock rings, which use seven contact points distributed around the outer ear to anchor the earpiece without applying concentrated pressure at any single spot. That geometry also keeps the profile low enough to wear comfortably under a helmet or alongside supplemental earmuffs when the noise environment demands it. The body is molded from a hypoallergenic medical-grade polymer, so extended contact with the skin of the ear canal doesn’t cause the irritation that cheaper materials sometimes produce. The plugs are reusable, and the foam tips themselves are replaceable when they lose their compliance over time — a practical advantage over single-use disposables in any setting where these will be worn regularly. Each set ships with a 26-inch detachable lanyard, a carrying case, and a spare pair of Comply foam tips.
The EP10 is the right choice when protection is the entire job. If the application requires hearing voices or filtered ambient sound, SureFire’s EP7 Sonic Defenders Ultra serves that need instead.
