Description
The Ascension is Proof Research’s answer to a specific problem: building a precision hunting and long-range rifle that does not punish the shooter for carrying it into the field. The result is a rifle built around a Zermatt Arms titanium action, which keeps weight down without sacrificing the dimensional stability that repeatable accuracy depends on. The barrel is a carbon fiber-wrapped match grade tube—the wrapping dissipates heat more evenly than a steel-only profile of comparable weight, which matters on a rifle intended to be carried hard and shot cold.
The 1-in-9 twist rate is a deliberate pairing with the .300 PRC cartridge. That cartridge was designed from the start around long, high-BC projectiles seated to take advantage of the full case capacity, and a faster twist than you would find on older .300 magnums is necessary to stabilize those heavier bullets reliably. If you are handloading, this twist rate points you toward 200-plus grain projectiles rather than lighter, faster options.
The stock is a carbon fiber Black Jungle Monte Carlo design. The Monte Carlo comb geometry raises the cheekweld to align naturally with a scope rather than iron sights, which is the appropriate configuration for a rifle like this. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard pattern for .30-caliber suppressors and muzzle brakes. Proof Research backs the barrel with a sub-half-MOA accuracy guarantee, which is a contractual claim about a specific standard rather than a marketing phrase—it means the rifle is tested before it ships.
