Proof Research’s carbon fiber-wrapped barrels are the centerpiece of that philosophy. The carbon fiber jacket draws heat away from the steel core faster than a contoured steel barrel of comparable weight, which matters on a hunt where a second shot opportunity may come sooner than expected. The wrapping also reduces overall mass substantially, shifting the balance point rearward and making the rifle easier to carry all day in steep terrain.

The 1:10″ twist rate is well-matched to the .308 / 7.62 NATO cartridge across a broad range of bullet weights, stabilizing projectiles from standard 168-grain match loads down through lighter hunting bullets without overdriving lighter projectiles the way a faster twist would.
