Description

The Proof Research Elevation MTR is a bolt-action hunting and precision rifle built around the idea that a suppressor-optimized platform should not require compromising on weight or accuracy. The MTR designation — Medium Tactical Rifle — reflects a design intended to be carried in the field and shot suppressed, and the 18-inch barrel reflects that priority: at this length the 25 Creedmoor retains enough velocity for ethical hunting at extended range while keeping overall suppressed length manageable.

The action is a Zermatt Arms Origin, a platform known for its tight receiver-to-barrel-extension interface and Rem 700 footprint compatibility, which gives the rifle access to a wide aftermarket of stocks and triggers without requiring gunsmithing. The barrel itself is a carbon fiber-wrapped, match-grade stainless steel blank from Proof Research’s own production — the carbon wrap reduces weight significantly compared to a full contour steel barrel of the same stiffness, and it also dissipates heat faster during rapid strings, which matters when shooting suppressed.

A 1-in-7.5 twist rate is on the faster end for the 25 Creedmoor and stabilizes heavier, high-BC projectiles well — if you are handloading or selecting match ammunition for wind-bucking performance at distance, that twist rate gives you more headroom with longer bullets than a slower rate would. The muzzle is cut 5/8×24 to accept standard large-caliber suppressors directly without an adapter. The stock is finished in Midnight Camo, Proof Research’s own pattern, and no iron sights are included, so budget for a scope mount.
