Description

The Elevation MTR is Proof Research’s purpose-built precision bolt gun, aimed at hunters and long-range shooters who want a rifle that carries like a mountain rifle but performs like a dedicated target platform. MTR stands for Multi-Task Rifle, and the concept is straightforward: one rifle that handles backcountry packouts and precision shooting without meaningful compromise between the two.

At the center of the design is a Zermatt Arms Origin action, a short-action receiver machined to tight tolerances and widely adopted in custom precision builds for its consistent bolt lock-up and smooth feeding. Mating a proven aftermarket action to the rest of the system lets Proof Research focus its engineering on the barrel and chassis rather than reinventing the receiver from scratch.

The barrel is carbon fiber wrapped over a match-grade steel core — a construction that reduces mass compared to a contoured steel barrel of equivalent stiffness, which matters when the rifle is slung over a shoulder on an all-day approach. The carbon wrap also dissipates heat differently than bare steel, keeping the barrel more dimensionally stable across a rapid-fire string. The 1-in-7.5 twist rate in 25 Creedmoor is optimized for the heavier, high-BC projectiles that make the cartridge competitive at extended distances, so handloaders and factory-ammo buyers alike should lean toward the heavier end of the available bullet weights to get the most out of that stabilization rate.

The stock ships in Proof Research’s Midnight Camo finish, and the barrel is threaded 5/8×24, leaving the muzzle ready for a suppressor or brake without additional machining. The rifle carries a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee from the factory.
