Description
The Elevation MTR 2.0 is Proof Research’s answer to a specific problem: building a bolt-action rifle capable of handling long-range magnum cartridges without the weight penalty that typically comes with that capability. It is aimed at hunters and precision shooters who cover ground on foot and need a rifle that performs at distance without becoming a burden by the end of the day.
The barrel is wrapped in carbon fiber over a match-grade steel liner — a construction method that sheds mass while preserving the thermal stability and rigidity that a steel barrel provides. Carbon fiber dissipates heat differently than bare steel, which matters during back-to-back strings when barrel temperature can begin to shift point of impact. The threaded muzzle accepts a suppressor or muzzle device without modification.
The 1-in-9 twist rate is well matched to the .300 PRC’s typical bullet weights, which run toward the heavier end of .30-caliber projectiles. Faster twist stabilizes longer, higher-BC bullets more effectively, and .300 PRC handloaders and factory ammunition manufacturers largely design around that expectation. Shooters who intend to run very heavy-for-caliber match bullets will find the twist rate cooperative rather than limiting.
The action is sourced from Zermatt Arms, and the trigger is a TriggerTech unit — both components with well-established reputations in the precision rifle market for dimensional consistency and clean, adjustable break characteristics. The stock is Proof Research’s own fixed carbon fiber design in their Digital Camouflage pattern, finished in TFDE. The detachable box magazine keeps the package practical for field use where a fixed blind magazine would slow reloads.
