Description

The PWS MK116 MOD 2-M upper is built around Primary Weapons Systems’ carbine-length long-stroke piston system, which keeps propellant gas and carbon out of the receiver by cycling the bolt carrier through a piston and op-rod rather than directing gas directly into the carrier key. The practical result is a cooler, cleaner action that remains more tolerant of varied ammunition — a meaningful advantage when running the 7.62x39mm cartridge, where pressure curves and gas port demands vary more across commercial and surplus loads than they do in tighter-spec NATO chamberings. A three-position adjustable gas block lets you tune the system to match suppressed or unsuppressed use and to dial in your preferred bolt velocity rather than accepting whatever the fixed port delivers.

The 1-10 twist rate is well-matched to the 7.62x39mm bullet weights most commonly available — typically in the 122–125 grain range — providing adequate stabilization without over-spinning lighter projectiles. The barrel is manufactured from 41V50 steel and finished with FNC LIFE HD treatment on the bolt carrier, a harder and more corrosion-resistant process than standard phosphate. The upper receiver is lightweight forged aluminum and omits the forward assist by design, a deliberate weight and snag reduction that reflects the piston system’s reduced dependency on that control. A 15-inch M-LOK handguard with integrated Picatinny rail sections at the front gives you a long, unobstructed grip surface while preserving attachment options. The Radian Raptor LT charging handle and PWS FRC two-port compensator complete the package, and the upper fits standard mil-spec AR-15 lowers.
