Description

The M4A1 Upper Receiver Group is built around the same SOPMOD Block II configuration that U.S. Special Operations Command has relied on since 2005. It is aimed at shooters who want a complete, mil-spec upper ready to drop onto a standard AR-15 lower — whether for duty use, serious training, or a high-quality build where the upper is the functional core.

The barrel is cold hammer forged from Chrome Moly Vanadium steel and chrome lined along its bore and chamber. Cold hammer forging work-hardens the steel as the barrel is formed around a mandrel, producing a denser grain structure that resists erosion from sustained fire better than a cut-rifled or button-rifled barrel of equivalent steel. The 1-in-7-inch twist rate stabilizes the full range of 5.56 NATO projectiles, including heavier 77-grain loads that a slower twist would fail to spin up adequately. The barrel also carries a Mil-Spec heavy phosphate exterior coating and has passed both high-pressure and magnetic-particle inspection before leaving the factory.

The gas system runs at carbine length with a pinned low-profile block machined from 4140 hardened steel. Carbine-length timing pulls gas earlier in the bullet’s travel down the barrel, which increases bolt velocity relative to a mid-length system — worth understanding if you’re tuning an adjustable gas block or adding a suppressor. The upper receiver is CNC machined from 7075-T6 aluminum with M4 feed ramps and carries a Type III hard coat anodize. The handguard is the Daniel Defense M4A1 RIS II quad-rail in Flat Dark Earth — a 6061-T6 aluminum Picatinny system that provides full rail real estate at all four positions for accessories. The included M16-profile bolt carrier group is chrome lined and magnetic-particle tested. Sights are not included and must be sourced separately.
