Description
The Radian Afterburner and Ramjet are designed for Glock 17 Gen 5 shooters who want measurable recoil reduction without adding significant length to the pistol. The Ramjet barrel and Afterburner compensator work as a matched system: gas escaping from the muzzle is redirected by the compensator to counteract muzzle rise, and together the two components reduce felt recoil by up to 44 percent with 115-grain ammunition. That figure matters in practical terms because it translates directly to faster target reacquisition between shots, which benefits both competitive shooters and those training for speed.
The Afterburner measures just 0.47 inches in length, keeping the overall package compact enough for holster use. Angled front faces on the compensator body are shaped specifically to aid in re-holstering, so the muzzle end does not snag on the holster mouth during administrative handling. The INTRA-LOK mounting system secures the compensator to the barrel using a tapered locking pin that engages an angled V-groove machined into the underside of the barrel, timing the compensator precisely at lockup and eliminating the need for threads at the muzzle. That threadless interface also means the barrel can be pulled free for cleaning without any tool or unthreading procedure.
The Ramjet barrel is constructed from hardened stainless steel and finished with Radian’s Radianite coating, which reduces friction at the bore surface and provides corrosion resistance. The Black and Grey finish combines a Radianite-coated barrel with a Grey PVD finish on the compensator. No sights are included with this kit, so existing slide-mounted sights remain in use.
