The Radian Model 1 Builder Kit is aimed at builders who want a matched upper receiver and handguard sourced from a single manufacturer, machined to work together rather than assembled from mixed parts. The receiver is cut from billet 7075-T6 aluminum, which is stiffer than cast or forged alternatives of the same weight, and Radian reinforces it at the areas most likely to see stress under sustained use. Because the upper and handguard are designed and machined as a set, the fit between them eliminates the minor play that can appear when mixing components from different makers — useful for anyone running optics at distance, where even slight movement at the receiver affects point of impact consistency.

The 10-inch handguard attaches to the barrel nut with four steel cross bolts finished in black nitride, which resists corrosion and keeps the interface tight without relying on a single-point torque connection. Magpul M-LOK slots run the length of the handguard, letting you mount lights, lasers, or grip accessories directly into the aluminum structure rather than onto a separate rail section. The assembly ships with a dust cover, a handguard anti-rotation pin, a lightweight forward assist, and Radian’s Raptor-SD ambidextrous charging handle — so the upper half of the build is largely complete out of the box. Every external edge is chamfered, which matters most during extended handling when sharp transitions at the rail slots and receiver corners would otherwise become uncomfortable. The entire assembly is finished in Radian Black Cerakote, which is Radian’s proprietary color rather than a standard catalog black, providing a uniform appearance across all machined surfaces.
