Description
The Raptor-SD/Talon combo from Radian Weapons is a direct upgrade path for AR-15/M16 shooters who run suppressors regularly or want ambidextrous control without sourcing components separately. Both pieces are machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and finished in Flat Dark Earth Cerakote, so they match in both material and appearance when installed together.
The Raptor-SD charging handle addresses a practical problem with suppressed shooting: gas that would otherwise vent rearward into the shooter’s face. Its shaft is ported to redirect that gas forward and downward, keeping it out of the operator’s eyes and lungs during rapid strings. The ambidextrous latch design means either hand can run the handle with a palm-down sweep rather than the pinching motion required by a standard mil-spec handle, which matters when manipulating the rifle quickly or from awkward positions.
The Talon safety selector rounds out the combo by offering the same ambidextrous accessibility on the fire-control side. It ships configurable between a 45-degree and a 90-degree throw, so shooters can set it to match their thumb mechanics and grip style. A 45-degree throw requires less hand movement to disengage safe, which some shooters prefer for speed; the 90-degree option follows the traditional mil-spec arc for those who want familiar muscle memory. Because both throws are available in a single unit, there is no need to commit to one at the time of purchase.
Buying the handle and selector as a matched set ensures finish consistency and simplifies installation compared to sourcing them individually at different times.
