Description

The Raptor-SD is Radian Weapons’ answer to a specific problem: when a suppressor is attached to an AR-pattern rifle, blowback gas that would normally vent forward instead gets pushed rearward through the action and out the charging handle, directly toward the shooter’s face. The Raptor-SD addresses this with a ported shaft — a series of holes and directional cuts machined into the body of the handle — that intercepts that gas and redirects it away before it reaches the shooter. The result is a noticeably cleaner experience running suppressed without requiring any changes to the rifle’s gas system.

The body is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, which gives it a favorable strength-to-weight ratio and holds up to the thermal and mechanical stress of sustained fire. The finish is a MIL-SPEC Type III hard coat anodize as the base, with Radian Grey Cerakote applied to the latch handles. That two-stage approach keeps the structural surface hard and corrosion-resistant while giving the handles a consistent, matched color for rifles finished in Radian’s own palette.

The latch design is fully ambidextrous, meaning either hand can cycle the handle with equal leverage — useful both for non-dominant-hand manipulation and for running the rifle from awkward positions. The handle is dimensionally compatible with mil-spec AR-15 and M16-pattern upper receivers, so it installs as a direct replacement with no fitting required. If you run a suppressor on a 5.56 build and the standard charging handle has been an annoyance, this is a purpose-built fix rather than a general upgrade.
