Description
The Radian Raptor is an ambidextrous charging handle designed for mil-spec AR-15, M16, and M4 upper receivers. Where a standard charging handle gives you a single small latch on the left side, the Raptor puts full-sized latches on both sides, so the support hand or the firing hand can run the action equally well. That matters in any situation where you need to clear a malfunction quickly or charge the rifle from an unconventional position — prone, behind cover, or with a magnified optic positioned close to the rear of the upper.
Radian machines the Raptor from 7075 aluminum and applies a Type III hard coat anodize over the body, with the latch wings finished in Radian Grey. Type III anodize is a harder, thicker coating than the standard Type II found on most factory components, which gives the surface better resistance to wear at the contact points that see the most friction during cycling. The result is a handle that holds up through sustained use without the finish wearing through to bare metal at the edges of the latches.
The Raptor is made in the United States. Its geometry is sized to give a positive grip under gloves or in wet conditions, without adding so much bulk that it conflicts with optic mounts or upper receiver accessories. If you are running a scope mounted far enough rearward that the standard charging handle is difficult to grasp cleanly, the extended latch design addresses that directly. Compatibility covers mil-spec upper receivers across the standard AR pattern.
