Description

The Rearden FHD is a flash hider designed to serve dual duty: reduce visible muzzle signature when fired bare and act as a mounting platform for compatible suppressors. That combination makes it a practical choice for shooters who run a can intermittently rather than full-time, since the device pulls its weight either way instead of sitting idle between suppressed sessions.

The bore is sized at .375 inches, which is deliberately oversized relative to the projectile. That extra clearance is intentional — it keeps the expanding gases from being disrupted by the bullet’s passage, directing them rearward through the tines for more effective flash suppression and reducing the chance of a baffle strike when a suppressor is mounted. The trade-off is that unsuppressed flash suppression is somewhat less efficient than a tight-bore device, but the geometry is better suited to the hub-mount role.

Rearden machines the FHD from 17-4 PH stainless steel and finishes it in Black Nitride. Nitride hardens the surface and provides corrosion resistance without building up material thickness, so the critical thread and shoulder dimensions stay precise. The square shoulder design is important for timing: if your barrel requires the device to land at a specific rotational position for a suppressor to align correctly, shims can be used to dial it in — they are not included. The 1/2-28 thread pitch fits a wide range of host platforms. This variant is compatible with the Rearden Atlas and Q Plan B suppressor mounting systems.
