Description

The Rearden FHD is a three-prong flash hider built for shooters who want a muzzle device that can serve double duty as a suppressor mount. It is machined from 17-4 PH stainless steel in the H900 condition, a precipitation-hardened alloy known for its combination of high tensile strength and corrosion resistance — a meaningful choice for a part that sees heat cycling and gas erosion at the muzzle. The Black Nitride QPQ finish drives surface hardness to 67 HRC, which is relevant here because the FHD interfaces directly with suppressor mounts: a harder surface holds geometry better under the repeated torque and thermal stress of mounting and dismounting a can.

The FHD is compatible with Plan B style mounts and fits both the Atlas and Atlas XL suppressor systems from Rearden’s own lineup. The square shoulder variant — which is what this listing covers — seats against a square-cut barrel shoulder rather than a tapered one, so verify your barrel’s muzzle profile before ordering. Because the nitride finish produces a slightly tighter fit at the mount interface, correct installation matters: Rearden specifies torquing to approximately 25–30 ft-lbs with Rocksett applied to a clean, degreased barrel and device, with an alignment rod used to confirm concentricity before running a suppressor on it. The bore diameter of .38 inches clears standard centerfire rifle projectiles with adequate margin. At 5/8×24 threads, the FHD suits larger-bore rifle barrels where that pitch is standard. Shims are not included, and depending on your barrel’s thread relief, they may not be needed for a flash hider — though they remain an option if precise rotational timing is required.
