Description
The Reptilia DOT Mount is built for shooters who want a backup or transition optic mounted at a 45-degree offset from their primary sight line. Rather than running a dedicated secondary optic on a separate platform, this mount positions an Aimpoint ACRO or Steiner MPS at roughly 50 degrees from vertical on a standard 1913 Picatinny rail, letting the shooter rotate the firearm slightly to bring the red dot into play without breaking a firing position or transitioning to a different weapon.
The reversible design means the mount can be configured for either side of the rail, which matters for left-handed shooters and for tailoring the ergonomics of a particular setup. Both the aluminum body and the steel hardware are given surface treatments suited to hard use — the aluminum is Type III hardcoat anodized and the 4140 steel components are nitrided — so the mount handles friction, sweat, and field conditions without the finish becoming a maintenance concern. At 61 grams the mount adds minimal weight, which is relevant when a dedicated offset optic is already part of the loadout equation.
The Flat Dark Earth anodized finish on this variant coordinates with common FDE-finished handguards and receivers without requiring an exact color match, since hardcoat anodizing and Cerakote read differently in different lighting. Compatibility is specific: the footprint is designed for the Aimpoint ACRO and Steiner MPS families, not a universal plate system, so the fit is direct and without an adapter.
