Description
The Rugged Suppressors Obsidian Piston is a replacement and adaptation piston designed for use with the Obsidian 45 suppressor, giving shooters the ability to match the suppressor’s mount to the thread pitch of a specific host pistol or submachine gun. Swapping pistons is the practical way to run one suppressor across multiple hosts without purchasing additional mounting hardware for each firearm.
This piston is machined from 17-4 stainless steel and then heat treated, a combination that resists the sustained thermal and mechanical stress that piston-mounted suppressors impose on the interface between host and can. The non-slotted body forms a full circumference seal around the bore, which matters because slotted designs allow propellant gas to vent rearward through the gaps — increasing the gas that reaches the shooter’s face and action. Eliminating those slots keeps that gas moving forward into the suppressor where it belongs.
The copper-colored finish is a visual indicator as well as a surface treatment, making it straightforward to identify this piston among others in a collection and confirm correct installation at a glance. The M14.5×1 left-hand thread pitch matches the muzzle thread standard found on certain host platforms, and because left-hand threads tighten against the direction of barrel rotation under fire, the piston resists self-loosening during use without requiring thread-locking compounds on every installation.
