Description
The R3L Flash Mitigation System is built for shooters who want a capable muzzle device that doubles as a mounting interface for Rugged Suppressors’ rifle and multi-caliber suppressor lineup. Where a standard flash hider simply redirects gas, the R3L goes further: its variable fluted prongs are shaped to break up the gas column in a way that eliminates the bright ring of unburned propellant that typically appears at the muzzle crown, a phenomenon standard prong designs often leave visible in low-light conditions.
The mounting side of the design centers on Rugged’s Dual Taper Locking System, a toothless interface that secures the suppressor through opposing tapered surfaces rather than a ratchet or notched collar. That geometry matters in practice because there are no teeth to snag on a holster or case, and the dual-taper engagement distributes the load evenly, which helps the suppressor return to the same rotational position each time it is mounted. Verified compatible suppressors include the Radiant 762, Surge 762, Razor 762, and Micro30.
The Black Nitride finish is a surface hardening treatment rather than a coating, meaning it penetrates the steel rather than building up on top of it. That keeps the interface dimensions consistent and gives the device corrosion resistance without adding material thickness that could affect suppressor fit. The 5/8″-24 thread pattern is the standard for .308-class barrels, making this a straightforward fit for most 7.62mm rifles without an adapter.
