Description

Sellier & Bellot’s .303 British load with a 150-grain soft point is a hunting round built around controlled expansion. The semi-jacketed construction leaves the lead core exposed at the tip, which initiates deformation on impact and drives the bullet into a mushroom profile. That expansion increases the wound channel while the jacket — made from a copper-zinc alloy over an iron base — contains the core and limits fragmentation, keeping weight retention high through the target.

The .303 British has a long service history in bolt-action rifles, and this load is well-suited to the deer-sized game those rifles are typically put to work on. At the muzzle the bullet is moving fast enough to produce meaningful energy on target, and the ballistic data from Sellier & Bellot shows it staying supersonic well past practical hunting distances. The 150-grain weight sits in a middle ground for this caliber: lighter than the 180-grain options S&B also produces in .303 British, which translates to a flatter trajectory at moderate ranges while still delivering adequate terminal performance on medium game.

Sellier & Bellot loads this ammunition with boxer-primed brass cases, making the spent brass reloadable for handloaders who want to stretch the value further. The cases are non-corrosive. Each box contains 20 rounds. Sellier & Bellot has been manufacturing centerfire ammunition continuously since the nineteenth century, and this load reflects their standard production approach: consistent components, reliable ignition, and a bullet design that performs a defined mechanical task rather than promising something vague.
