Description

The SBPDW is SB Tactical’s answer to the AR pistol shooter who wants a compact, PDW-style platform without sacrificing the compatibility that makes mil-spec builds practical. It was developed in conjunction with Maxim Defense, and that collaboration shows in the collapsed, telescoping form factor that keeps the overall package short while still providing a meaningful point of contact against the forearm for steadier holds at speed.

The three-position adjustment is the core mechanical advantage here. Where a fixed brace locks you into one length regardless of how you’re running the gun, the SBPDW lets you adapt to different shooting positions or layers of clothing without tools. The collapsed and extended positions span from 6.75 inches to 9.375 inches, so the difference between positions is substantial enough to matter in practice rather than just on paper.

Compatibility is deliberately straightforward: the brace ships as a complete assembly with its own proprietary buffer tube, and it runs standard mil-spec bolt carrier groups and carbine buffers. You supply the BCG and buffer; everything else arrives ready to install. The integral castle nut and buffer tube are aluminum, so take care with torque during installation to avoid damage — a note worth keeping in mind if you’re swapping between uppers regularly.

A QD attachment point sits at the 6 o’clock position, which routes a sling along the underside of the brace and keeps it clear of the support hand during use. An adjustable nylon strap is included and allows you to dial in forearm fit across all three positions. The assembly weighs 19.5 ounces and is made in the USA.
