Description
The P226 X-Five Extreme is built for competitive shooting and serious range work — specifically for the shooter who wants a full-size, steel-framed platform tuned from the factory rather than pieced together through aftermarket parts. It is a single-action-only pistol, which means the trigger is doing one job: breaking the shot. Without the double-action pull to account for, the AX3 trigger system can be adjusted to a clean, consistent break that carries over from string to string, the kind of repeatability that matters when stage times are close.
The 5-inch bull barrel contributes to that consistency in two ways: the added mass dampens harmonic movement during the firing cycle, and the bull profile provides a more uniform lockup than a standard bushing-fitted slide, which tightens the relationship between barrel position and point of impact. The SIG-LOC optic-ready cut in the Nitron XSeries slide lets a red dot mount directly to the slide without a separate adapter plate, keeping the optic as low as practical and preserving a predictable return to battery.
The all-steel construction — stainless frame with Nitron finish — puts weight where it benefits a competition shooter: forward and low, reducing muzzle flip and shortening the time between accurate follow-up shots. The 20-round capacity means fewer mandatory reloads in a long stage. XRAY3 fixed night sights sit alongside the optic cut so the pistol remains fully usable if a red dot is not mounted. Hogue G10 Piranha grips and an alloy magwell round out a package that is ready to run without modification.
