Description
The SIG Sauer Short Reset Trigger Parts Kit is a factory-original upgrade for DA/SA variants of the P226, P227, P228, and P229. It is aimed at shooters who want to reduce the distance the trigger must travel forward before it resets for the next shot, which can meaningfully improve the pace of accurate follow-up shots without requiring a trigger pull weight adjustment or a change in the fire control geometry that governs safety.
The kit contains two components: a sear and a safety lever. These two parts work together within the existing DA/SA fire control group to shorten the reset arc. Because the modification touches the sear directly, the relationship between the sear and hammer engagement surfaces changes, which is why SIG Sauer requires installation by a certified SIG Sauer armorer. Improper fitting can introduce timing issues that affect reliability, and any damage resulting from incorrect installation falls outside the firearm’s warranty coverage.
Using factory SIG Sauer parts means the dimensions and material specifications match the tolerances the pistol was built around. For a shooter running a P226 or one of the compatible variants as a primary carry or duty gun, keeping the internals to factory specification matters for long-term reliability and for maintaining a predictable trigger feel across a high round count. This kit does not alter the double-action pull for the first shot; the improvement applies to the single-action reset that follows each subsequent round.
