Description

SilencerCo’s suppressor lineup is built around interchangeable pistons, and that system only works as well as the piston itself. This one is machined from 17-4 stainless steel and heat treated, giving it the dimensional stability to maintain consistent thread engagement under the repeated stress of suppressed fire. The natural stainless finish is left as-machined rather than coated, which keeps the part easy to inspect for wear and requires no finish maintenance.

The piston is the half of the Nielsen device that threads directly onto the host barrel. When a semi-automatic pistol cycles, the suppressor’s added mass and the locked barrel relationship would normally prevent reliable function — the Nielsen device solves this by letting the piston travel independently, allowing the barrel to tilt or move rearward as it normally would during the cycling sequence. Swapping pistons is how you move a single suppressor between host pistols with different barrel thread pitches, rather than buying a separate can for each gun.

The half-inch by 36 thread pitch on this piston matches the most common threading found on 9mm pistol barrels, making it directly compatible with a wide range of hosts without adapters. It is designed to work with the Octane, Osprey, Hybrid, and Omega 9K suppressors from SilencerCo. If you already run one of those cans and want to add a second host with a half-by-36 threaded barrel, this is the part that makes the transition seamless without pulling your existing piston from the suppressor it lives in.
