Description

The SilencerCo AC27 piston is a replacement and conversion component for shooters running SilencerCo pistol suppressors across multiple host weapons. Its purpose is straightforward: because different pistols and sub-guns use different muzzle thread standards, the piston is the part you swap rather than the suppressor itself, letting a single can follow you from one host to another without any mismatch at the muzzle interface.

The piston is the moving half of a Nielsen device — the mechanism that allows semi-automatic pistols to cycle reliably with a suppressor attached. On an unsealed pistol, the added mass of a suppressor on the muzzle would resist slide movement enough to cause malfunctions. The Nielsen device solves this by decoupling that mass momentarily during the cycling stroke: the piston threads onto the host barrel and moves independently during the cycle, so the slide sees only the resistance it was designed to handle.

This particular piston carries an M14.5×1 left-hand thread, matching the muzzle specification of certain pistols and sub-guns that use that metric standard. The left-hand thread direction ensures the piston tightens against the direction of rotation during firing rather than backing off. Construction is 17-4 stainless steel, heat-treated after machining — a combination that resists both corrosion and the repeated mechanical stress of the cycling action. It is compatible with SilencerCo Alpha accessories and Alpha-type piston housing assemblies, including the Octane, Osprey, Hybrid, and Omega 9K suppressors.
