Description
The East India Starter Kit is built for the shooter who wants to assemble their own AR-15 upper without sourcing and fitting individual components from scratch. Sons of Liberty Gun Works ships the upper receiver already assembled around a USGI barrel nut, so the builder skips the alignment and torque work that trips up first-time upper builds and gets straight to completing the rifle around their chosen lower.
The barrel carries a QPQ finish, a salt-bath nitride process that hardens the steel surface and provides corrosion resistance without adding the dimensional variability that can come from chrome lining. The bore and chamber are both treated, which keeps maintenance straightforward in wet or humid conditions. High-pressure testing and magnetic particle inspection are performed at the factory, confirming structural integrity before the component leaves the bench rather than leaving that verification to the end user.
The SOLGW V2 gas block is a low-profile design, which keeps the sight plane clear and leaves the builder free to mount a full-length handguard without working around a standard-height block. M4 feed ramps on the upper receiver extension support reliable feeding across a wide range of .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO ammunition types and bullet profiles.
The kit ships without a muzzle device, bolt carrier group, or charging handle. That is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight — it lets the builder specify those components to their own preferences and budget rather than paying to swap out parts that came standard. The threaded muzzle at 1/2×28 accommodates the full range of common .22-caliber muzzle devices.
