Description

Sons of Liberty Gun Works built this ambidextrous safety around a mil-spec interface, so it drops into any standard AR-15 lower without fitting work. The design addresses a genuine ergonomic problem: the factory safety selector is a right-hand-only control, which forces left-handed shooters to break grip entirely and puts right-handed shooters at a disadvantage whenever a support-hand manipulation is needed.

The kit centers on a steel safety shaft with a nitride finish, which resists corrosion and wear without adding the thickness of a plated surface. Levers mount to that shaft via screws rather than being press-fit or staked, so swapping paddles takes a screwdriver rather than a punch and mallet. That also means if a lever gets damaged, you replace only that piece rather than the whole assembly.

The throw is configurable between the traditional 90-degree arc and a shorter 60-degree arc. A shorter throw reduces the distance the thumb travels between safe and fire, which matters when your firing grip stays locked and you are relying on thumb movement alone. The tradeoff is a narrower physical margin between positions, which is worth considering if you are running the rifle in high-stress conditions where a partial engagement is a concern. Both configurations work within the mil-spec lower geometry, so no receiver modification is required.

Multiple lever profile options are included, letting you mix and match paddle shapes on each side independently. This matters because the support-side lever typically wants to be lower-profile to stay clear of the firing hand, while the dominant-side lever benefits from more surface area for a positive purchase.
