The Steiner T1042 Tactical is built for extended observation work where optical clarity and physical durability are both non-negotiable — border surveillance, search and rescue, patrol, and any field application where the glass needs to perform in difficult conditions and take hard use without complaint. Steiner covers the body in NBR Long Life Rubber Armoring, a material that absorbs impact and provides a secure grip even in wet or cold conditions, rather than simply cosmetic rubber overmolding.

The fully multi-coated lens system is designed to maximize light transmission across all surfaces, which matters most in the low-contrast, low-light situations where you actually need a capable binocular.
