Description
The SureFire SOCOM 4-Prong Flash Hider is the muzzle device SureFire developed specifically to win the USSOCOM suppressor contract — one of the most demanding military evaluation programs ever conducted. That origin matters because it tells you what the design was optimized for: extreme reliability under sustained fire, consistent suppressor alignment, and serious flash reduction in the field, not on a competition bench.
The four-tine geometry does the bulk of the work on flash. By venting propellant gas through the tines as the projectile exits, it disrupts the secondary combustion that produces the visible fireball, cutting muzzle flash by more than 99 percent compared to a bare muzzle. That figure comes from SureFire’s own testing, and the design has been validated under military use conditions that are difficult to replicate in a civilian setting.
Beyond flash reduction, the device is engineered to function as a hard mount for any SureFire SOCOM Fast-Attach suppressor. Multiple bearing surfaces on the hider index the suppressor concentrically with the bore — a detail that matters both for alignment during the mount cycle and for consistent point-of-impact shift when the suppressor goes on and comes off. Machined from U.S. mill-certified stainless steel and heat-treated after machining, the construction is chosen specifically because stainless resists the corrosive combination of hot gas and carbon fouling that degrades softer materials over time. Each unit is individually inspected for concentricity before leaving the factory. The 1/2″-28 thread pattern fits standard 5.56 NATO barrels, and the device is covered by SureFire’s No-Hassle Guarantee.
