SUREFIRE SOCOM MB 6MM 5/8X24

Description

The SureFire SFMB serves two purposes simultaneously: it functions as a high-performance muzzle brake and as the dedicated mounting adapter for SureFire’s SOCOM Series Fast-Attach suppressors. Shooters building a suppressor-ready 6mm ARC or 5/8×24-threaded rifle can run it either way — as a standalone brake or as the host for a SOCOM can — without changing muzzle devices.

The brake’s performance comes from SureFire’s Impulse Diffusion porting arrangement, which redirects propellant gases to counter both rearward recoil impulse and upward muzzle rise. The result is that the rifle tracks more nearly straight back rather than rotating up and away from the target, which shortens the time required to reacquire a sight picture between shots. This is the core mechanical reason the SFMB is worth running even before a suppressor enters the picture.

When a SOCOM Series suppressor is mounted, multiple internal bearing surfaces take over, maintaining concentricity between the suppressor bore and the barrel. Misalignment at the muzzle device is one of the primary causes of baffle strikes, so those bearing surfaces do real work. Labyrinth seals at the lock ring indexing system block carbon from accumulating in the threads, keeping suppressor removal torque and rotational indexing consistent across extended firing sessions.

The body is precision-machined from U.S. mill-certified heat-treated stainless steel bar stock and finished in Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating, which resists the thermal and chemical abuse that muzzle devices see at sustained firing rates and cleans up more readily than bare metal afterward. Pilot holes allow the brake to be drilled for pin-and-weld installation or for fine-tuning recoil characteristics without any specialized tooling beyond a hand drill.

Note that this adapter is only compatible with current-generation SureFire SOCOM Series Fast-Attach suppressors and is not backward compatible with previous SureFire Fast-Attach hardware.
