Unlike filtered variants such as the EP3 or EP4, the EP5 makes no effort to pass conversation or range commands through; the trade-off is a 26 dB Noise Reduction Rating that the filtered models cannot match at equivalent size and cost.

The triple-flanged stem is adjustable and made from a soft hypoallergenic polymer, which allows a consistent, secure seal across a range of ear canal geometries without requiring foam expansion or custom molding. SureFire’s patented EarLock retention rings use seven contact points to anchor each earpiece in place, so the fit repeats reliably every time you insert them — useful when you’re putting them in quickly before a string of fire. The low-profile geometry keeps them from interfering with a helmet, earmuffs worn over top, a face mask, or a phone pressed to the ear.
