Description

The Tikka T3 and T3x ship with a trigger that most bolt-gun shooters will find serviceable but imprecise — adequate for hunting shots at moderate range, less suited to the consistency that competitive or long-range work demands. Timney’s drop-in replacement addresses that without requiring a gunsmith or specialized tooling. The unit seats directly into the factory trigger guard and retains using the original pins, so the installation process is something any careful owner can handle at the bench.

The trigger operates on a true two-stage design, which means the shooter can take up the first stage — a deliberate 8 oz of travel with a clear tactile wall at the end — before committing to the shot. That staged release gives a predictable reference point under pressure, which matters when the shot timing isn’t entirely under your control. The second stage then breaks the shot cleanly. From the factory, the first stage is set at 8 oz and the second at 1 lb, for a combined pull weight of 1.5 lbs. Both stages are independently adjustable, as are sear engagement and overtravel, so the trigger can be dialed to match a specific shooting discipline or personal preference rather than fixed at a single compromise setting. A 5/64 hex wrench handles pull weight adjustments; sear engagement and overtravel use a .050 hex. The housing is aluminum, the internal components steel — a combination that keeps mass low while maintaining the dimensional stability the adjustment screws depend on. The trigger is designed for right-hand Tikka T3 and T3x receivers and will not fit the left-hand variant.
