Description

When you’re running a short-barreled AR-15 build, the gas tube is one of the components that quietly determines whether the whole system runs cleanly or fights you. Wilson Combat’s pistol-length gas tube is sized for the tightest AR configurations, where barrel length is kept compact and the gas port sits close to the chamber. At that distance, the tube taps gas earlier in the bullet’s travel — meaning higher pressure reaches the bolt carrier group compared to longer gas system lengths. That characteristic demands attention during the build process: buffer weight, carrier weight, and spring rate all need to be matched accordingly to keep cycling smooth and extraction controlled.

The tube itself is made from stainless steel to military specification, which holds up to the heat and corrosion that a gas system sees in regular use. Stainless construction also resists the fouling that accumulates inside the tube over time, making cleaning more straightforward. This is a straight pistol-length tube — no adjustable valve, no proprietary fitting — so it seats into a standard pistol-length gas block and mates with any mil-spec gas key on the bolt carrier group without modification.
