The NULA Model 20 is Wilson Combat’s answer to a specific and demanding problem: a bolt-action hunting rifle light enough to carry hard country all day without sacrificing the mechanical quality that makes a rifle worth trusting at the moment it matters. At just under five and a quarter pounds depending on configuration, it is built around an AG Composites carbon fiber stock in the Kodiak Rogue pattern — a subdued, forest-oriented finish that will not flash in low light the way a gloss or bright synthetic will. The Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad is doing real work here; on an ultralight rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor, the pad’s energy-absorbing material takes the edge off the sharper impulse that comes with reduced mass, keeping follow-up shots faster and extended range sessions manageable.

The receiver is machined from 4140 bar stock and finished in Armor-Tuff, and the bolt is machined from 4340 bar stock with a Nickel Boron coating — both choices oriented toward corrosion resistance for hunters who are not always cleaning a rifle the same evening they carry it through wet terrain. The 416R stainless barrel is button rifled, then honed and double stress relieved, a process that removes internal tension introduced during rifling and contributes to the rifle’s sub-MOA accuracy guarantee when used with specified factory ammunition. The 1-in-8 twist rate is well suited to the heavier, high-BC projectiles that 6.5 Creedmoor shooters typically favor in the 140-grain range, giving those bullets the stabilization they need at distance. The Timney Elite Hunter trigger breaks between 2.75 and 3.25 pounds, and the safety locks the bolt closed when engaged — a meaningful detail when the rifle is chambered and you are moving through brush. The 5/8×24 threaded muzzle leaves the barrel ready for a suppressor or muzzle brake without additional machining.
