Description

The Wilson Combat 25G is a one-piece full-length guide rod designed as a direct replacement for the standard recoil guide on Government-model 1911 pistols. Where a two-piece or carbine-length guide rod leaves the recoil spring with less support through its travel, a full-length rod maintains consistent spring alignment across the entire stroke, which reduces the chance of spring bind and helps extend spring service life over time.

Installation follows the same basic sequence as working with the factory guide rod, so no gunsmithing or frame modification is required. That said, the one-piece format does change one step in the disassembly process: you cannot ease the slide back slightly to rotate the barrel bushing free by hand. A bushing wrench is necessary, which is standard practice for any Government-model with a full-length rod. The rod ships with the corresponding plug included.

Finished in stainless steel, the 25G is suited to shooters who want a more consistent recoil-spring platform without altering the pistol’s existing geometry. It is compatible with a range of Government-frame platforms including the Colt Government, Gold Cup, Para-Ordnance P14, and several others built to the same frame dimensions. If you already run a bushing wrench as part of your normal kit, the transition from a stock guide rod to this one is straightforward.
